Atchison Makes Court Appearance

A Williamsville man accused of brutally murdering a young Mill Spring family in January made a court appearance last week in Wayne County Associate Circuit Court.

Drew D. Atchison, 24, appeared in court Feb. 15 for a Counsel Status Hearing. Atchison is being represented by a public defender. According to court records, his counsel is Jordan Michael Cantoni.

On Thursday, Judge Schuller set a date for Atchison’s preliminary hearing. It will be held April 13 at 9 a.m. at the Wayne County Courthouse. A preliminary hearing is a hearing where a judge determines whether there is enough evidence to force the defendant to stand trial

Atchison is accused of killing a 17-month-old girl by shooting her in the back of the head after slitting her parents’ throats the day before. Atchison has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder as well as kidnapping and other crimes in the deaths of the victims as Harley Michael Million, Samara Fontaine Kitts and toddler Willa Fontaine Million.

According to a probable cause statement that was written by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Atchison confessed to authorities to killing the young family. Authorities have not released a motive in the killings.

Atchison is currently being held in jail with no bond.
