Garry Dean Sammons
Garry Dean Sammons, 69, of Patterson, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, with his loving wife and sons, Tod and Shane, by his side at his residence. He was born June 17, 1947, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to parents Veryl and LaRue Sammons nee’ Lamb.
Garry worked as an assembler for Chrysler for 30 years before retiring and moving to Wayne County. He was a member of UAW local 1268. Garry was an avid outdoorsman enjoying his time spent around the camp fire. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching and giving his Labrador, Rusty, rides on the farm on his side by side. He had a great personality and never met a stranger often starting conversations with people and sharing funny stories.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Luanna, of the home; four sons, Tod Sammons and wife, Dawn, of Fontana, Wisc., Shane Sammons and wife, Angela, of Capron, Ill., Randy Roland of Deerfield, Wisc., and Tim Lein and companion, Melissa Trimble, of Belvidere, Ill; two daughters, Gina Sammons of Rockford, Ill., and Shelly Lein and her companion, Mark Hill, of Itasca, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Dakota, Paige, Sydney, Joey, Cheyenne, Cassie, Vanessa, Callie, Derek; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Sammons and wife Jeanne of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Bud Sammons and wife, Ruby, of Greensboro, Md.; one sister, Diana Child and husband Gary of New Hartford, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Holland and Vineta Lamb, Harry and Opal Sammons; and his parents, Veryl and LaRue Sammons.
