Springfield Firm Chosen as R-2 Project Manager
Toth and Associates of Springfield was chosen Thursday, April 13, as the project manager for the Greenville School District’s grant-funded Williamsville Safe Room project. Toth was one of two firms to submit proposals to the R-2 Board of Education.
Toth will charge $25,000 for its services. The other bid was from the Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission. They submitted a bid of 3.5 percent or no more than $29,505. Board Vice President Steve Marler made the motion to award the contract to the low bidder. Rick Clubb seconded the motion and it passed by a unanimous vote.
The school board also opened qualifications for architect for the construction project. Three firms submitted qualifications to be considered—FGM Architects of St. Louis, Dille and Traxel of Poplar Bluff, and Holner and Associates of St. Louis.
In other action, bids were opened on a project to reroof the administration office. Only one proposal was received. Turn Key Contractors of Ellsinore submitted two proposals. To replace the roof with shingles, the cost would be $15,380. To install a metal roof, the cost would be $15,850.
Board Vice President Steve Marler made a motion to reject the bids and rebid the project. Gail seconded the motion, and it passed by a unanimous vote.
There was a lengthy discussion of it the project would have to be rebid or if the district could hire a firm to do the work. Marler referred his fellow board members to board policy and advised it should be rebid.
