Sylvia Long
Sylvia Lucille Long, daughter of the late Eliza (Burnham) Williams and Johnny Williams, was born in Shannon County, at Paint Rock, on April 15, 1921. She passed away at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on April 16, 2017, at the age of 96 years and one day.
On Sept. 28, 1938, in Van Buren, Sylvia was united in marriage to Flavy Long and to this loving union two sons were born. He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1999. Sylvia enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, making garden, tending to her flowers and chickens and crocheting only during winter time.
Sylvia is survived by her two sons, Everett (Betty) Long of Garwood, Carl (Darlene) Long of Ellington (Pine Valley); two sister-in-laws, Ruby Long of Fremont, Lucille Williams of Campbell; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 14 nieces and nephews. Sylvia will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Visitation and funeral services were held Thursday, April 20 with Pastor Jim Stewart officiating. Burial was in Ellington Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington.
