Opal E. Bell

Opal Eileen Bell of Bonne Terre passed away July 24, 2017 at the age of 91 years. She was born April 9, 1926, in Goodland, the daughter of the late Tony Otto and Ethel Ann (Rencehausen) Goggin.

On April 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to James Edward Bell who survives. To this union a daugh­ter, Andrea Susan Pruett was born. She survives and resides with her husband, Steven in Terre du Lac.

Also surviving are her grandchil­dren; Brandon (Michelle) Mahler and Bryce Pruett; great grand­daughters, Belle Lucille Mahler and Branch Janes Mahler; five sisters survive, Donna Mills of Arnold, Ruby Miner of Belleview, Doris Wingerter of Mineral Point, Joann Crocker of Belleview and Francis Lincoln also of Belleview.

Opal was preceded in death by four brothers, James Goggin, Paul Goggin, Robert Goggin and Jerry Goggin; three sisters, Mil­dred Giles, Shirley Crocker and Carol Shy; and a son-in-law Jo­seph Mahler.

Opal was a member of the Black River Baptist Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, decorating and traveling, es­pecially with reunions. Opal served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Ottery Community Cemetery for many years after being one of the original organizers of the cemetery.

Visitation and funeral services were held Friday, July 28, at Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Nash officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Steve Pruett, Bryce Pruett, Brandon Mahler, Gary Walker, Bill Bryant and Thomas Mills. Interment was in Ottery Community Cemetery.
