Lucy Asberry
Lucy Asberry, daughter of the late Della (Russell) Lewis and Glover Lewis, was born on Harrison Valley in Redford on Oct. 15, 1927. She departed this life at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Sept. 24, 2017, at the age of 89.
On March 23, 1952, in St. Louis, Lucy was united in marriage to Udell Asberry and to this union four children were born. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2015. Lucy was a member of the Redford Church of the Nazarene. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, Reynolds County Genealogy, going to flea markets and going to yard sales.
Lucy is survived by her four children, Diana (Asberry) Sandusky of Bernie, Lewis (Pamela) Asberry of Bonne Terre, Nancy (Wesley) Roberts of Ellington, Clifford (Molly) Asberry of Ironton; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Lucy will be deeply missed by her family and many friends who will mourn her passing.
Visitation and funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 28 at McSpadden Funeral Home; with Rev. Patrick Pyles officiating. Burial was in Ellington Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were: Franklin, Brandon and Jarid Roberts, Jeffrey Sandusky, Andrew Asberry and Matthew Hollingsworth.
Arrangements were under the direction of McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington.
