MU Extension Office Manager Wins First Place
This year, Reynolds County Extensions Office Manager Joyce Pyles won First Place in the 2017 Jr. Clerical Staff Award.
Nominees for this award were evaluated on conduct and courtesy within the Extension Community, service to the University of Missouri Extension, the University of Missouri and Lincoln University, exclusive of job responsibility, pride in work, and outstanding performance in one or more job related areas.
In 2013 Pyles won first place in the Rookie of the Year Awards. This makes the second award the Reynolds County MU Extension has won because of her.
The council was very excited for Joyce. She does so much more than just office work. With Reynolds County not having any specialist or in-house CPD, she works very hard to make sure the council is informed of any and all information and works on making sure programs are held that customers are requesting.
“I truly love my job and I give our customers 110% and I hold that standard for everyone in Extension. If we are not here for our customers then you need to find another job.”
Joyce not only tries to come up with programs, she works with the council, specialists, and outside sources to make sure the programs happens and runs smoothly. She sets them up, advertises, “gets the butts in the seats” and stays till the end to clean up.
She is there from the beginning to the end of each and every program that takes place. She works on everything the council is involved in from office, to business meetings, to fairs and committee involvement.
Joyce has also attended many Chamber meetings. She works very closely with the Commission making sure that budget goes up each year. She and her daughter, Harley, even do the summer reading program at the local Library.
They read a book and do an activity with the children to help them learn what the Extension Office is all about and what we do for the county. “I am not just Extension during office hours, I’m Extension 24 hours a day”, says Joyce. Along with the award, Joyce received a $500.00 cash prize that she plans to take her family to Branson on vacation with.
