Fire Prevention Week

Lesterville Elementary’s Third Grade Class
LESTERVILLE SCHOOL received a visit from the Lesterville Fire Department for Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 8-14. Pictured left to right are Will Crocker, Rylee Laughman, Shyla Baca, Emma Prestidge, Isabelle Twomey, Evan Hammons, Tyson Creek, Aidan Miller, Carter St. Gemme, Hannah Coote, Mischelle Swiney, Jarett Meredith and Nicholas Welch.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme was “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!” In a fire, seconds count. Seconds can mean the difference between residents escaping safely from a fire or having their lives end in tragedy. During Fire Prevention Week students were taught the importance of having an escape route mapped out and practiced so that all the members of the household are aware of what to do in the event of a fire in the home.
Visit www.nfpa.org to learn more about fire prevention and find resources for planning your own fire escape route for your household.
