Myra Brawley

Myra L. Brawley, 86, of Piedmont, MO, passed away, Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born October 20, 1930, to the late Jacob Andrew Darden and Louisa Elizabeth (Pruitt) Darden in Piedmont, MO.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Owen Brawley Sr.; two sons, Clayton Owen Brawley Jr. and Larry Brawley; one daughter, Anna Jane McMurry; three brothers, Elmer Darden, James Darden, and Robert Lee Darden; and two sisters, Mae Clements and Hazel Gentles.

She is survived by two daughters, Becky Alcorn and her husband Andy of Wappapello, MO, and Nancy Mays and her husband Jim of Piedmont, MO; two daughters-in-law, Penny Brawley of Springfield, MO, and Loretta Kunkel of Arcadia, MO; one brother, Ray Darden and his wife Ocleta of Fredericktown, MO; and one sister, Judy Robertson and her husband Roy of Warrenton, MO. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Robbie Brawley and his wife Stacy, David Brawley and his wife Christi, Aaron Mays and his wife Tonya, James R. Mays and his wife Jamie, Jonathan Brawley and his wife Holly, Lori Delay and her husband Chris, Christina Ross and her husband Jerrid, Mindy Hoffman and her husband Brandon, Julie Boswell and her husband Steven, and Angie Files and her husband Adam; twenty great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Myra worked as a machine operator at Brown Shoe Co. for many years.

She was saved as a young person and was of the Pentecostal faith.

She enjoyed reading, and spending time with family at family gatherings. Myra was a loving mother and grandmother.

 

Visitation was held Sunday, October 15, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Funeral services were held Monday, October 16, 2017, at 11:00 am, also at the Piedmont Chapel. Burial was at Mt. View Cemetery. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Mathias Alcorn, Danny Gentles, Alan Gentles, David Brawley, Jonathan Brawley, and Brandon Brawley served as pallbearers. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
