Mary E. Dement
Mary Ella Dement, daughter of the late Mammie (Gilmer) Hampton and Marvin Hampton was born at Ruble on April 16, 1930. She departed this life at Parkland Hospital in Farmington, on Nov. 7, 2017, at the age of 87.
On Nov. 17, 1947, in Ellington, Mary was united in marriage to Ralph Dement and to this union six children were born. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1994. Mary was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, sewing, tending to her flowers and listening to country music. Her greatest joy was her family she loved spending time with her grandchildren and getting new pictures of them.
Mary is survived by five sons, Jim (Anita) Dement of Boss, Ray (Karen) Dement of Black, Larry (Kiria) Dement of Lesterville, Don (Sonjia) Dement of Potosi, Richie (Carolyn) Dement of Centerville; one daughter, Judy (Rick) White of Booneville; three sisters, Ethel Kuntz of Ellsinore, Kathleen Welker of Piedmont, Eleanor Gore of Piedmont; one brother; Virgil Hampton of Granite City, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Mary will be deeply missed by her family and many friends who will mourn her passing.
Visitation was held Friday, Nov. 10 and funeral services Saturday, Nov. 11, at McSpadden Funeral Home; with pastors Don Dement and Richie Dement officiating. Burial was in Hampton Cemetery.
