Dixie K. McSpadden

Mrs. Dixie K. McSpadden (née Kirkpatrick), of Van Buren, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 07, 2017 at the age of 89.

Dixie was born to parents James and Mable (née Clary) Kirkpatrick on Sept. 19, 1928, in Piedmont, Mo.

Dixie married Robert McSpadden May 24, 1948, and the couple had three children.

Dixie was an avid nature advocate. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and documenting local flora and fauna.

She had many friends and enjoyed meeting people while running the Standard Service Station on Main Street.

Dixie was an accomplished painter, seamstress (doll making and quilting) and multimedia artist (egg decoration).

Dixie is survived by her daughter, Andrea Blurton; her sons, Robert McSpadden Jr.(Josie), Patrick McSpadden( Rhonda); her sisters, Clara Etta Graffe and Sue Gooch; grandchildren, Heather Wallace, Eric Dazey, Ashley Jackson; and three great-grandchildren, Katelyn Towner, Will Towner, and Felicity Jackson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McSpadden, Sr; her parents, James and Mable Kirkpatrick; her sisters, Jo Eastman and Ann Lindgren; and her brothers, Jr (James) Kirkpatrick and Eugene Kirkpatrick.  She loved her Family and Friends deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
