Lyle J. Bryant Sr.

Lyle Joseph Bryant Sr., the son of Wallace Bryant and Beulah (Adams) Bryant, was born on April 9, 1925, in Lesterville. He departed this life on Dec. 6, 2017, at Meadowbrook Residential Care in Pilot Knob.

He was the oldest of four children that included Arthur “Pete” Bryant, Irene Bryant Standley and Barbara Bryant Ford.

On Oct. 26, 1942, in Lesterville, he was united in marriage to Alice Shy. They would celebrate seventy-two years of marriage. To this loving union four sons were born, Lyle Jr., Mitchell, Eric, and Stephen.

Lyle was a veteran of WWII and served in the United States Army Airforce. He was a Sergeant serving with the 41st MRR Squadron of the 32nd transport group and the 285th fighter squadron. He worked on aircraft at McDonnell Aircraft for twenty-seven years, retiring to his farm in Black in the early 1980’s “Joe” was a deacon at Fellowship Baptist church in Lesterville. He loved living on his farm and driving his old Ford tractor.

He is survived by three sons, Lyle (Elaine) Bryant Jr. of Desoto, Mitch (Sandi) Bryant of Black, Stephen (Janise) Bryant of Desoto; daughter-in-law, Beverly of Farmington; brother-in-law Floyd Ford of Annapolis; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Joe will be deeply missed by his family and many friends who will mourn his passing.

Visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 10 at McSpadden Funeral Home in Lesterville. Funeral was held Monday, Dec. 11 in the Lesterville Chapel with Pastor Dirk Myers and Steve Colquitt officiating. Burial followed at the Dennison Cemetery in Black.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church on Gideon’s Bible.
