Norman W. Jackson, Sr.
Norman W. Jackson, Sr., 66, of Piedmont, MO, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Norman was born on September 16, 1950, to Edgar Eugene and Loretta (Curran) Jackson in St. Louis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Maxine; three children, Carma Beshears and husband Darrell, Norman W. Jackson, Jr., and wife Erin, and Mary Schabbing and husband Chris, all of Jackson, MO; six grandchildren, Steven Jackson, Thomas Jackson, Canyon Schabbing, Kaden Jackson, Lucas Jackson and Isabella Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Noah Jackson and Jace Jackson; his father, Edgar Eugene”Gene” Jackson; one brother, Clarence Eugene Jackson and wife Joyce.
He was preceded in death by his mother Loretta.
Norman graduated from Clearwater High and joined the U.S. Navy in September 1968. was a proud US Navy Veteran who served aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. He retired from the City of Piedmont after many years of dedicated service, and was of the Lutheran faith.
Norman was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, taking care of his cattle, hummingbirds, and enjoying the beautiful view from his rocking chair on the front porch. Norman was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose big smile and joyful laughter will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Norman was held Friday, July 7, 2017, from 6:00-9:00 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Services followed Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 1:00 pm, also at the chapel. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family and Mary Schabbing provided a heartfelt eulogy. Carma Beshears, Norman Jackson Jr., Mary Schabbing, Darrell Beshears, Chris Schabbing, Steven Jackson, Thomas Jackson and Gary Street served as pallbearers. Burial was with military honors provided by the United States Navy and Arnold Hodge Post #281 American Legion at Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, Mo.
