Violet June Hurst

Violet June Hurst, age 80 of Piedmont, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. She was born June 7, 1937 at Belleview, Mo., the daughter of Oswald and Minnie (Cox) Harbison.

She lived for many years in Arcadia, where she worked for Brown Shoe Company. Violet had been a long time resident of Piedmont and was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. She was married to Robert D. Hurst February 22, 1958 at Pilot Knob, Mo., and he passed away January 8, 1994.

Also preceding her in death are her parents, Oswald and Minnie Harbison, 2 infant sons, Michael Eckhoff and Larry Hurst, her step son, Bob Barbee, 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Dee LaPlant and her husband Delmar, of Piedmont, her daughter in law, Pat Barbee, of Festus, Mo., 4 grandchildren, Anita Patterson and her husband Kenny, Annie Thompson and her husband Cory, Chris Barbee and his wife Jeannie and Kevin Barbee and his wife Cindy.

Also surviving are 5 great grandchildren, Ashley and Eli Patterson, Jake Thompson, Brooke and Sarah Barbee, along with many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Morrison-Worley Chapel in Piedmont with Rev. Gary Rhodes officiating. Special recorded songs were played for the service and Kenny Patterson, Eli Patterson, Ashley Patterson, Cory Thompson, Jake Thompson and Darin Strange served as Pall Bearers. Interment was in the Arcadia Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Arcadia, Mo. Services were under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel. Memorials have been requested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
