Nona D. Bennett

Nora D. Bennett, 98, of Greenville, Mo., passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 26, 1919, to Henry and Zilpha (Campbell) Davis.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Nora had mostly served her family through the years as a homemaker but was also known as an area midwife. She enjoyed many cherished moments with her family, enjoyed church meetings and was a great cook. Nora enjoyed the country life with such activities as gardening and working in the yard, fishing and even gigging. Nora was the type of woman that held so much knowledge about daily life and getting things done that most people in today’s world could never imagine.

She is survived by her children: Jerry Pennington and wife Rosie of Greenville, Mo., Ruby Wirtel and husband Robert of Greenville, Mo., Dorothy Clubb and husband Leon of Greenville, Mo., a sister Jerri Jo Wade of Escondido, Calif.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband’s Gerald Pennington who passed away in 1955 and Ira Bennett who passed away in 2005. She is also preceded in death by son, Glen Pennington; siblings, John, Louie, George, Ike, Marie, Mary Ann, Lola Mae, Bessie and four infant siblings; two grandchildren: Roy Clubb and Clifford Pennington.

Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, Mo. Services followed Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, also at the funeral home chapel. Pastors Dan Ross and Danny Robinson ministered to the family. Robert Wirtel, Mark Wirtel, Rick Clubb, Jerry Clubb, Tommy Clubb, Rick Clubb Jr. and Josh Clubb served as pallbearers.
