Claybert Paul Barker, 81, of Greenville, MO, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, at his residence. Claybert was born October 22, 1936, at Silva, MO, son of George and Carrie (Sutton) Barker. He was raised in Silva, and attended a one room school there. He later attended Greenville High School. In 1957 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably until 1960. After being discharged he returned home to Wayne County, where in a chance meeting at a Coldwater Café he met his future wife Virginia Maxine Robinson. The two were married on November 11, 1961. To this union two children were born. During his working years he worked for an electrical company in St. Louis for many years before retiring back to Greenville twenty years ago. In spare time Claybert enjoyed hunting and fishing; watching barrel racing; and he liked to listen to and sing gospel music.
He was a Christian and was a long time attendee Jacktown New Liberty General Baptist Church at Silva.
Claybert is survived by his loving wife; one son, Rick Barker and wife Sondra of Cedar Hill, MO; one daughter, Cynthia Harris and companion Alan Jones of Puxico, MO; many grandchildren; brothers, Alfred Barker of Riverside, CA and Dibby Ray Barker of Fredericktown, MO.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Luther Barker, Thomas Barker, Cleatus Barker and Hadley Barker; sisters, Juanita Huffman, Dorothy Huffman and Thelma Bennett.
Visitation was held Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 5:00 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville. Services followed Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 1:00 pm, also at the Greenville chapel. Pastors Louie and Danny Robinson ministered to the family. Sue Allen and Judy Osborn-Hill provided musical selections. Scott Barker, Brett Bennett, Todd Bennett, Patrick Smith, Rick Barker and Art Masters served as pallbearers. Burial with full military honors was held at Camp Eight Cemetery near Greenville.
