Bangert, Henry Named GHS Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Elizabeth A. Bangert has been named the valedictorian of the 2018 graduating class of Greenville High School.  Melodee A. Henry has been named the salutatorian.

Miss Bangert and Miss Henry will lead a class of 78 seniors at the commencement ceremony Sunday afternoon, May 13th, at 3 p.m. in the Greenville High School gymnasium.

Elizabeth Bangert

Elizabeth (Beth) is the daughter of Jim and Mary Bangert of Coldwater. During her high school career, she has received several honors and has been active in many organizations.

 Clubs and Organizations: FFA (current President), BETA (current President), Future Business Leaders of America, Future Career and Community Leaders of America, Senior Class Secretary/Treasurer, Fellowship of Christian Students, National Honor Society, Bear Ambassadors, Art Club, Wayne County 4-H Club, Modern Woodmen Youth Leaders of America

 Sports: Basketball – 4 years, Volleyball – 4 years, Softball – 3 years, Track – 1 year, Cross Country – 1 year

 Class Awards: Trigonometry, Geometry, Anatomy/Physiology, AP Biology, Health, Accounting II, English I, English II, Agricultural Science I, Natural Resources, American History, Economics

 Honors: A+ Scholar, Selected for Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, 1st place in Southeast Missouri District competition for National History Day, Modern Woodmen Youth Service Award, Basketball All Conference (2 years) and All District Honors, Softball All Conference and Softball Academic All State (2 years)

 Community Involvement: Volunteer for Santa’s Community Workshop, NHS Annual Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteer, participant in fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Heifer International and many activities through the United Methodist Church

 After graduating from high school, Beth plans to complete the pre-veterinary program at Southeast Missouri State University and then pursue a professional degree in veterinary school at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Melodee Henry

Melodee Henry has earned the honor of salutatorian.  She is the daughter of Jennifer Robertson of Piedmont, MO and Eric Henry of Clubb, MO.  Melodee has also been an active and involved high school student.

Honors and Awards:  Grade 9 – VFW Award, English, Government; Grade 10 – Gold FCCLA Regional STAR Events, Silver FCCLA State STAR Events, FBLA Health Management; Grade 11 – Business Technology, FBLA Health Management, FBLA Mathematics in Medicine; Grade 12 – Three Rivers College Dual-Credit Scholarship, Student of the Month, Three Rivers Community Salutes, Top 5 (Grades 9-12), Honor Roll (Grades (9-12)

After graduating, Melodee plans to pursue her career as a doctor by attending college and receiving training in the U.S. Army as an officer.
