James E. Bowles

James E. Bowles, age 74, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at his home near Mill Spring, Mo. He was born Nov. 22, 1943 in Poplar Bluff, MO, the son of Marvin and Marjorie (Blackwell) Bowles.

James was a graduate of the University of Missouri Law School. He was the editor in chief of the Law Review publication and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree in January 1967 and practiced law at the Thurman Law Firm in Hillsboro, Mo., for 25 years. He operated his own law firm in Piedmont from 1995 until his retirement. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Piedmont and was a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Poplar Bluff.

James was married to Elaine Wigger July 21, 1979, in Festus and had lived near Mill Spring for many years.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Marvin and Marjorie Bowles and one sister, Karen (Toby) Bowles.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Bowles, of the home, 3 children, Dana Elizabeth Bowles-Scott, of Kansas City, Mo., Michelle Lynn Bowles, of San Antonia, Texas, Todd Stephen Bowles, of St. Louis, and 4 godchildren, Ashley Allen-Brown, Kyle Allen, Erica Allen and Kathryn Johnson-Reif.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorials have been suggested to the Bowles Clearwater School Scholarship Fund and may be sent to Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, 100 Piedmont Ave. Piedmont, Mo. 63957
