Melvin D. Barks
Melvin D. Barks, 80, of Shook, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Missouri State Veterans Home, Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Melvin was born Nov. 13, 1937, at Burbank, MO, son of Elmer and Myrtle (Underwood) Barks.
He proudly served in the United States Third Army, A Battery, 2nd Howitzer Battalion, 11th Artillery from 1961 until 1963.
In his working years he found a career as an electrician at Boeing Company for over thirty-four years. He was a farmer and in free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Christian of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his son, Ron Barks; Grandson, Ryan Barks; one brother: Ralph Barks; three sisters: Thelma Haynes, Faye Stevenson and Shirley Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister Beulah Noldge.
Visitation was held Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, Mo. Masonic Services were held at 12:45 p.m., at the chapel with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Larry Underwood ministering to the family. Chester Shrum, Mark Parker, Richard Zaleuke, Tristan Harris, Ryan Barks, and Frank McLane served as pallbearers. Burial was at Crossroads Cemetery near Greenville with full military honors by Missouri National Guard and Arnold Hodge Post #281, Piedmont, Mo.
