Mary Wanda Farmer

Mary Wanda Farmer, daughter of the late Elisha Edward and Ruth Ethel (Sears) Durbin was born August 20, 1930 in Gideon, Mo., and departed this life on November 18, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She had attained the age of eighty-eight years, two months and twenty-nine days.

Mary had resided in Van Buren since the 1970’s and was formerly of Peoria, Ill. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. Mary was a happy, very giving and loving person who would deliver food for the Nutrition Center with her husband. While residing at Brent B. Tinnin Manor Nursing Home in Ellington, for the last 18 years, she would deliver residents mail, folded wash clothes, napkins, and kept busy by helping the other residents. She was always willing to help others. She enjoyed baking cookies, embroidering, making quilts, and visiting with her family and friends.

In 1952, Mary was united in marriage to Delbert Farmer, in Peoria, Ill., he preceded her in death in 1999.

She is survived by one daughter, Goldie Robertson, and husband Tom of Creve Coeur, Ill; two sons, Michael Famer of Washington, Ill., and Ricky Farmer and wife Cathy of Roanoke, Ill; three brothers, Ronald Durbin, Bob Durbin, and Myron Durbin; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

Mary is preceded in death by one son, James Farmer, two brothers, Oddis Durbin, Bill Durbin; two sisters, Myrtle and Jane.

A Visitation will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, Mo; with the Funeral Services following at 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Nate Gerwitz will be Officiating. Burial will be in the Aldrich Valley Cemetery near Van Buren, Mo.
