Watkins Transferred to  Extended Care Facility

Wednesday Watkins, 19, of Piedmont remains hospitalized in St. Louis following a serious car accident Feb. 8. Watkins was flown to Barne-Jewish Medical Center in St. Louis.

According to Watkins’ mother, Katie Woods, Wednesday has been transferred to Barnes Extended Care as she awaits her next surgery. To date, Watkins has had three surgeries, two on her back, and one to repair one of her damaged legs. Next week, Watkins is slated to have surgery on her other ankle.

Watkins is expected to have an extended recovery period and will undergo extensive therapy over the coming weeks and months.

The teen does not have health insurance. Two GoFundMe accounts have been set up to help pay for the teen’s medical expenses. All monies raised from these two accounts will be used to pay medical-related expenses, according to Watkins mom.
