EllaDee Beatrice Cookemboo West

EllaDee Beatrice Cookemboo West, 89, passed quietly at her home in Lowndes, MO Sunday August 11th. Dee was born June 29, 1930 on the Old Cookemboo Farm that is now part of Mingo. She was the daughter of James Cookemboo and Maudie Elizabeth Lasters Cookemboo.
She married Elva Peck West in Pocahontas, Arkansas on June 18, 1949. This past June they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. In 1958 they moved from St. Louis to make their home in Wayne County on the Square W Ranch near Lowndes, where she is buried.
Dee loved quilting, gardening, and was of strong Christian Faith. She is survived by her loving husband Peck West, Daughter Rose West Helton of Poplar Bluff, and son Herman West (Rita) of Lowndes. She also leaves behind 6 granddaughters, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great – great grandchildren.
A Celebration of life will be August 18th, 2 pm – 4 pm, on the West homestead in Lowndes, MO. All family and friends are welcome to come celebrate the life of Dee West.
