R. H. Hodge

R. H. Hodge, 92, of Des Arc, MO, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019, at his residence. He was born on January 13, 1927, in Remmel, AR, to parents George Ernest and Annie Mae (Miller) Hodge.

R. H. was great at everything, especially at being a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He grew up in Arkansas and married Loretta Joyce Waltman on November 15, 1969.

He proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a proud lifetime member of Boilermakers Local 27 of St. Louis, MO since 1952. R. H. loved to travel, tinker in his garage and could build anything he set his mind to. R. H. was a good man and was always there for his children.

In addition to his loving wife of forty years, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Lloyd, G. E., and Huey Hodge; one sister: Rubylee Birdsong.

R. H. is survived by his children: Richard H. Hodge of St. Louis, MO, Rita (Hodge) Franklin and husband Ronnie of Des Arc, MO, Terry Hodge and wife Brenda of St. Louis, MO, Antoinette Hodge and fiancé Edwin Blair of St. Louis, MO, Donna Rosener and husband Randy of Bonne Terre, MO, Alan Young and wife Yvonne of Hazelwood, MO, Matthew Young and wife Larissa of Patterson, MO; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Geneva Hodge of Pilot Knob, MO, Wanda Underwood and husband Hilt of Bonita Springs, FL, Brenda Baker of Pilot Knob, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 11:00 am, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm also in the Piedmont chapel. Pastor Vernon Curry ministered to the family. Rick Hodge, Jonathan Young, Zack Franklin, Nick Franklin, Kevin Hodge, Shannon Franklin, Kevin Hodge, and Ronnie Franklin served as pallbearers. Burial was at Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc, MO, with full military honors provided by United States Navy and American Legion Local Post 281, Piedmont.
