John Light Sr.
Jake Ervin Light, Sr., age 93, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born Feb. 25, 1926 in Munger, Missouri, the son of the late Effie (nee Mund) and Jake Edward Light.
He is survived by sons Jake E. (Phyllis) Light, Jr. of Festus, and Jim (Jan) Light of Barnhart, Mo.; grandchildren Stacey (the late Dan) McCrary, Jimmy Light, Teri (Mark) Clark, and Tiffany Light; and great-grandchildren Sophia, Avery, and Connor McCrary, and Logan, and Jacob Clark.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Pauline (nee Harbison) Light; sisters Helen (the late Charles) Farris, and Hester (the late Golden) Light; and brothers Henry Light, Harel (the late Pauline) Light, and Elmer (the late Opal) Light.
He was an Army Veteran of WW II; and a retired machinist from Carter Carburetor in St. Louis.
Visitation was Monday, Sept. 16, 2019 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. David Harbison of Victory Family Church in Belleville, Illinois. Interment with full military honors in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials in his memory are preferred to the Siteman Cancer Centers of St. Louis.
