Whippets Are Champs

 The Ellington Lady Whippet Volleyball team won the Gold Bracket of the Black Division in the Dig For Life Challenge Volleyball Tournament in Cape Girardeau. In the finals, the Lady Whippets beat Gideon 25-19 and 25-20. In the semifi-nals, Ellington beat South Iron in a three-set contest, 25-13, 15-25, and 25-23. Sixty area volleyball teams took part in the Dig For Life Challenge Volleyball Tournament at the Cape Girardeau SportsPlex and Show Me Center Friday and Saturday. In the Black Division Silver Bracket, Viburnum defeated Doniphan 25-17 and 25-22 to win the crown.
