Free quilting & block Construction classes
Free quilting and block construction classes will be offered at the Des Arc Community Center at 143 Front Street in Des Arc. The classes are for all skill levels from begining to experienced.
People interested the classes can choose between two dates and times, a day class or an evening class. The first class will be held the second Tuesday of the month (Feb. 11) at 6 p.m. The other option is a 1 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month (Feb. 18). Future block classes will be held on the second and third Tuesdays of following months, same time as first classes.
The first project will be the “slash your stash” block. For the first class you will need to bring a quantity of 12 squared blocks of cotton material 15×15 inches and your machine. Each of the 12 blocks should be of a piece of material that coordinates or contrast, yourchoice. If you wish to learn to put the quilt together, the organizers will schedule 2 more classes to do that. Material needed for the second class is: 3/4 yard for sashing and inner border, and 1 1/4 yard non-directional print for outer Border. For the third class you will need: 1/2 yard for binding, 3 yards for backing, and 60 x 60 inches batting. All products are 100% cotton material, with the exception of batting.
If you have ever wanted to learn to quilt or learn new block patterns -this class is for you. No machine? Come anyway – we will have an extra machine for you to use.
