Mabel Darlene Jeffery

Mabel Darlene Jeffery of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Annapolis, Mo. and Farmington, Mo., passed away Jan. 28, 2020 in St. Louis, at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 13 days. She was born May 19, 1926 in Picher, Okla., a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Irene Risher Johnson, and Tessie Johnson. 

In the Summer of 1965 she was united in marriage to Joe Jeffery who preceded her in death in October of 1994. Surviving are two sons; Kevin Evans and wife Suzette and Jim Evans both of Hazelwood, Mo.; two brothers Helbert Johnson of McKinney, Texas, and Pete Johnson and wife Ruth of Farmington; One sister Barbara Ann Skaggs of St. Charles, two grandsons, Michael and Robert, two great grandchildren Kyleigh and Kohen; a sister in law Gayle Johnson and many other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by a brother Gerald Johnson, a daughter-in-law Elaine Evans, a sister-in-law Gayle, and a brother-in-law Herman. 

Mabel was a 1945 graduate of Annapolis High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from McKendree College. She taught elementary school until she retired in 1994 from the East St. Louis school district. She did volunteer work at Parkland Hospital and the Farmington City Library. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Howard Casteel officiating. Visitation was prior to the service at the Church. Interment was in the Annapolis Cemetery. on line condolences may be made at www.colefamilyfuneralhomes.com.
