George L. Howard

George L. Howard, 87, of Piedmont, Mo., passed away, Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont. He was born December 03, 1932 in Piedmont to Toney Rhodes and Dessie Lee (Piles) Howard. George was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. 

He graduated from Patterson High School.  George married Patricia Ruble on August 29, 1959, and to this union five children were born. 

He drove a haul truck for about thirty years at Gads Hill after working construction for several years. George was proud of the area he lived in and soaked up all he could about the history of his community, but most of all he enjoyed visiting with others and sharing the knowledge he learned. He loved to work around the home cutting wood, working outside, but his greatest joy was taking care of the love of his life, Patricia, and his family. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Toney and Jesse Howard; and his sisters: Virginia Kiser, Ruth Beiseman, and Mabel Loucks. 

George is survived by his loving wife of sixty years; his children: Steven Howard and wife Rebecca of St. Louis, Jeffrey Howard and wife Tina of Weston, Douglas Howard of Piedmont, Pamela Kiser and husband Jon of Piedmont, Lisa Howard of Piedmont; grandchildren: Jacy Kiser of Piedmont, Steven Howard Jr. and wife Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla., Michael Howard and wife Lyndsey of Plant City, Fla., Justin Howard of Weston, Margaret Howard of Weston; great-grandchildren; Katherine and Audrey Howard; and one brother; Nelson Howard and wife Juanita of Piedmont; many nieces and nephews. George will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

Visitation was Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed Sunday February 9, 2020, also at the Piedmont Chapel. Pastors Pete Ruble, Gary Rhodes, and Jim Norman ministered to the family. A beautiful piano solo was provided by granddaughter, Jacy Kiser. Steven Howard Sr., Jeff Howard, Doug Howard, Steven Howard Jr., Justin Howard, Jon Kiser, Keith Ruble, and Gary Beiseman served as pallbearers. Burial was in Ruble Cemetery, Piedmont.
