Floyd Raymond ‘Mitch’ Mitchell

Floyd Raymond “Mitch” Mitchell, 76, of Bunker, passed away at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, on Saturday, February 29, 2020.

Raymond, as he was known by friends and family, was born on April 28, 1943, in Stoddard County to Clifford and Katie (Peebles) Mitchell of Puxico, who preceded him in death. Raymond was raised in Puxico, but lived for a brief time in St Louis, where he met and married his lifetime sweetheart, Bonnie Elizabeth Yates. To this union four children were born. Floyd (Bucky) Mitchell and Fred (Helen) Mitchell of Bunker, Rebecca (Jimmy) Rhea of Ellington and Angela (Greg) Tarvid of Centerville.

Raymond and Bonnie settled down in Bunker 52 years ago, where he made a career working in the lead mines. After retiring from the mine, he and Bonnie owned two other businesses, Mitchell Feed and Mitchell’s Mercantile.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Bonnie and all four of his children and thirteen grandchildren. Thirty-two great grandchildren with one on the way; and three great great grandchildren with one on the way; two brothers, Doyle (Patsy) Mitchell and George Hemby; two sisters, Bonita Copeland and Barbara (Kenneth) Null; as well as, his most special Aunt Ruby and Uncle Cleveland Cox.

Raymond will be missed by a host of “Special Nieces and Nephews” and many other friends he has made in his 76 years on this earth.

Arrangements were at Morgan-Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Burial was at Raymond and Bonnie’s home in Bunker.

Officiants were Reverends and Nephews Joe Alien and Terry Scott. Music directed by Tom Hemby. Special Music by Ron Hemby and Tom Hemby.

Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons: Aaron Fortner, Josh Rhea, Dalton Tarvid, Jake Rhea, Wyatt Tarvid, Eli Tarvid, Lane White and Rowdy Yates.
