Sammy Rodger Smith
Sammy Rodger Smith, son of the late Samuel Lee Smith and Wanda Lea Fox, was born in Redford, Missouri, on October 18, 1958. He departed this life at his residence in Park Hills, Missouri, on March 18, 2020, at the age of 61.
On June 25, 1993 in Farmington, Missouri, Rodger was united in marriage to Ruby Nash. Rodger was of the Pentecostal Faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, or anything that involved being outdoors. Rodger’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandkids.
Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Wanda Smith.
Rodger is survived by his wife Ruby Smith of Park Hills, Missouri, three sons, Roger Smith and companion Alicia Morgan of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Zachary Smith of Park Hills, Missouri, and Cory Stout of Waynesville, Missouri, two daughters, Valerie Dickerson of Waynesville, Missouri, and Rachel Smith of Park Hills, Missouri, four brothers, Charles Smith of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Samuel Smith of Bismarck, Missouri, Don Smith of Desoto, Missouri, and William “Bill” Smith of Richwoods, Missouri, four sisters, Barbara Bales of Bismarck, Missouri, Donna Dawes, Alice Couch and Rhonda Delmisht all of Belgrade, Missouri, and seven grandchildren, Miles, Austin, Bentley, Emma, Colt, Abigail, and Haley. Rodger will be deeply missed by a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn his passing.
A family visitation was held on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington, Missouri, and a family funeral service followed in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Ben Pickett ministered to the family.
Burial was in Santhuff Cemetery. Pallbearers: were Joey Nash, Roger Smith, Zach Smith, Will Smith, Jacob Culler, Chris Kennedy, Raymond Menard and Jerry Reese.
