Arvey Dees

Arvey Dees, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, April 20, 2020, at John J Pershing VA Medical Center. He was born January 5, 1932, to parents Levi Franklin and Ada Belle (Tackett) Dees. Arvey was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. 

He was a car mechanic and carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith. 

Arvey enjoyed singing country bluegrass, and gospel music, and was an avid musician. He played the French harp, guitar, fiddle, and his favorite, the mandolin. 

Arvey proudly served our country in the United States Army and a longtime member of the Fraternity of Masons. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters: Ruby Dees, Ruth Hixson, and Jewel Anderson. 

Arvey is survived by his two sons: Scott Dees and wife Robin of Benton, Ark., and Randy Dees and life partner, Kurt Kennedy of Maumelle, Ark.; grandchildren: Kendall Dees and Phoenix Dees; nieces: Bonnie McGathey, Kimberly Hendrix, and Kelly Cochran; nephew: Jeffery McGathy. Arvey will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

Visitation was held Sunday, April 26, 2020, at Dees Chapel Cemetery, Williamsville, Mo. Graveside service and burial followed with full military honors provided by the United States Army. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Music was provided by the Iron Mt. Station Band, Dennis Hast, Xan Graves, Ferlin Moore, and Mike Johnson. Randy Dees, Scott Dees, Jeffery McGathey, Kevin Henson, Melvin Anderson, and Benjamin Henson served as pallbearers.
