Lynn Powery Charlton Jr.

Lynn Powery Charlton Jr., 91, of Piedmont, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont. He was born near Leeper, Mo, January 26, 1929, to the late Lynn Powery Charlton Sr. and Emma B. (Smith) Rogers. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandmother: Acenia Belle Smith, brother-in-law: Bill Pewitt, son-in-law: Jack Ruble. 

Junior is survived by his daughter: Debbie Ruble, sister: Wilma Pewitt, brother: Edgar “Buddy” Johnson and wife Kathy, and many nieces, nephews, and good friend Yung Sun “Sookie” Charlton. 

Junior will be greatly missed by his daughter and friends. Jr. was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend. 

He married A. Loretta Fears in 1953, and to this union, one child was born. 

Junior proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He raised chickens, pigs, dogs, and enjoyed all animals and shoeing horses in his spare time. Jr. enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. 

He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, Piedmont. His greatest accomplishment was his loving daughter, Debbie. 

Visitation was Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. A private funeral service followed. Pastor Pete Ruble ministered to the family. Burial was in Clay Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Army.
