Hollis Lewis

Hollis Lewis, age 80, of Piedmont, Mo.,, passed away Thursday, April 23, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1939, to parents Elvis Eli and Velma Jane (White) Lewis. Hollis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Bernadine (Tucker) Lewis.

In the 1960s, Hollis followed in his father’s footsteps taking over Elvis Lewis Feed Store in Piedmont, renaming the business Lewis Feed Store, before selling the store in 1983, to Dennis Johnson, which is now Johnson Feed Store. Hollis owned and ran the store for twenty years.

After selling the feed store, Hollis then opened Lewis Insurance Agency in Piedmont, and operated it for over twenty years.

In his spare time, he enjoyed farming raising pigs, cows, and goats. Hollis also enjoyed golfing and traveling, especially to Texas.

Hollis is also survived his sons Jeff Lewis and wife Lorinda of Piedmont, Jason Lewis of Frisco, Texas, Gene Tucker and wife Christina of Sikeston, Mark Smith of Bentonville, Ark., Travis Smith and wife Christy of Piedmont; his daughters: Julie Lewis Knodell and husband Kurt, of Poplar Bluff, Shannon Grant and husband Todd, of Eads, Tenn.; grandchildren: Caleb Knodell, Cody Knodell, Brooke Lewis, Dayton Lewis, McClay Lewis, Macy Lewis, JP Lewis, Leslie Rieffle and husband Bobby, Kayla Rowe and husband James, Braden Smith, Jill Grant, Jordan Grant, Jacob Grant, Connor Smith; great-grandchildren: Arianna Kriete, Aalayah Krieta, Jackson Krieta, Remi Rieffle, Ryla Rieffle, and Axton Rowe; brothers: Paul Lewis and wife Joyce of Troy, Jerrel Wayne Lewis and wife Shirley of St. Louis, Jerry Lewis of Hazelwood, David Lewis and wife Vickie of Savannah, Ga., Gary Lewis and wife Judy of St. Charles; sisters: Maxine Pyles and husband Thomas of St. Charles, Cynthia Martin and husband Walt of Patterson, Carolyn Raddatz of Piedmont, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Hollis was preceded in death by his wife Glenna (Parker) Lewis in 1985. Hollis was also preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Lankford Smith) in 2009, and one brother Walter Lewis.

Hollis will be missed by his family and community. Visitation was held from Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed on Monday, May 4, 2020, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Bro. Gary Rhodes, Bro. Glen Hunter, and Bro. Jim Norman ministered to the family. Music was provided by Jamie Hovis. Jeff Lewis, Jason Lewis, Caleb Knodell, Cody Knodell, J P Lewis, Dayton Lewis, and Tim Bridges served as pallbearers. Burial was in Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc, M0..
