James “Larry” Lawrence McEwen

James “Larry” Lawrence McEwen , 85 of Silva, Mo., passed away April 24, 2020 at Poplar Bluff hospital. He was of born September 18, 1934, to parents Walter and Arabella McEwen. James was a loving husband and friend. He married Mary Lou Evans June 11, 1966.

He was retired from the City of Olivette. James loved to travel all over the United States and several foreign countries. His hobby was sending trivia to nursing homes all over the United States.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou McEwen, stepfather Willard “Tiny” Waldron and one sister, Betty Rhodes.

A graveside service was held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2020. at Montgomery Cemetery, Silva, Mo. Pallbearers were Gerald Allen, Dalton Allen, Austin Allen, Shawn Wallis, Dennis Durr and Leonard Heath.

“Someone at the Gates”

I saw “one” standing at the gates with a background of absolute darkness behind him. “I must go forward” I said. “NO longer can I go back to that which is mortal being.” Understandingly, the “one” looked into my face…. and he told me, “Fear not. Go forward with confidence… reach out into the darkness and grasp the hand of God… and you will be safe in your journey.”
