Shirley Mae Martin
Shirley Mae Martin, daughter of the late Roy Schaffer and Mary Viola Dunham, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 23, 1938. She departed this life at her residence in Ellington, Missouri, on May 31, 2020, at the age of 81.
On October 23, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri, Shirley was united in marriage to Lloyd Martin and to this union seven children were born. Shirley was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed diamond painting, crocheting, knitting, reading, and going fishing. Shirley’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and her dog, Peppy.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Glenn Schaffer, and two sisters, Pat Jackson, and Mary Pearce.
Shirley is survived by three sons, Rick Martin of Ellington, Missouri, Doug Martin and wife Amy of Bunker, Missouri, and Brian Martin and wife Kristi of Bunker, Missouri, four daughters, Theresa Glowczewski of Ellington, Missouri, Sheila Emily and husband Dewayne of Desoto, Missouri, Connie Mathis and husband Paul of Bunker, Missouri, and Joanna Shaw of Wentzville, Missouri, one brother, Don Connors and wife Evelyn of Festus, Missouri, one sister, Sue Hedger of Desoto, Missouri, 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Shirley will be deeply missed by a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn her passing.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 20, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Polk Memorial Cemetery.
