Mary “Beth” Waites
Mary “Beth” Waites, 80, of Patterson, Mo., passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020, in the home of her daughter. She was born in Poplar Bluff, April 16, 1940, to parents Charles and Mary Margarette (Gibbs) Curry. She was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School where she played softball and basketball.
Beth married the love of her life, David, in 1961, and put up with his hunting and fishing for fifty-nine years. They settled in Patterson where they raised their daughter, Jennifer. Beth was the kind of mother every child deserves. She was very proud of her family and was the grandmother of twin daughters and a great-grandmother to four. She loved her family fiercely!
Beth loved the holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family. Beth was well-known for her popcorn balls which were a family favorite. She loved traveling, listening to Elvis, drinking coffee, and spoiling her family!
She was a member of the “card playing” mafia where she enjoyed decorating the table, making each gathering a special event. Beth taught “Hand and Foot” to her family and as her memory started to fade, if she forgot a rule, she just made one up!
Beth is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her devilishly handsome husband, her brilliant daughter, Jennifer and husband David “Blondie” Snyder of Patterson, Mo.; her near-perfect grandchildren: Tiffany Henry and husband Cory of Patterson, Kristian Wilson and husband James of Hartville, Mo.; amazing great-grandchildren Matthew and Caleb Henry, Waites and Brooklyn Wilson, and her talented sister, Carole F. Sullivant, of Benton, La.
A special thank you to Crown hospice for their care and compassion for Beth and family. No words can express how much Beth will be missed by her family–she was the spitfire to this family, and we love her and miss her greatly.
Visitation was held Friday, July 3, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed also at the Piedmont Chapel.
