Charles Lee Buckner

Charles Lee Buckner, son of the late Dewey Buckner and Mamie Gowen, was born in Hadley, Mo., on June 29, 1932. He departed this life at his residence in Redford, Mo., on July 15, 2020, at the age of 88.

On July 12, 1952, in St. Louis, Mo., Charles was united in marriage to Edna Bayer and to this union four children were born. Edna preceded him in death on July 20, 2016.

Charles was a Veteran of the United States Army. He owned and operated his own sawmill from 1971 to 1995. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the garden, and delivering cucumbers to the Senior Center. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Patty Snider, and one brother, Tommy Buckner.

Charles is survived by one son, Ronald Buckner and wife Cheryl of Redford, Mo., two daughters, Janet Zeleny of Redford, Mo., and Marsha Aspenwall and husband Dewayne of Redford, Mo., two brothers, Bill Buckner of Ellington, Mo., and Burnice Buckner of Redford, Mo., one sister, Louise Brannum of Lemay, Mo., 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Charles will be deeply missed by a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn his passing.

Visitation and Funeral took place Friday, July 17, 2020 at McSpadden Funeral Home, Ellington, Mo., with burial at Redford Memorial Cemetery. Father Dan Hirtz ministered to the family.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
