CHS XC Team Improving
Clearwater High School had a strong at the Van Buren Invitational Meet. Every high school boy on the team ran a personal best at the Van Buren Invite on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Senior Jacob Cheney brought home a Top 10 medal finishing in eighth place with a time of 18:02.13. The 5000 meter race also finished with the CHS girls’ record being broken for the first time in Clearwater cross country history. “Nancy Hampton ran a beautiful race to break the record,” Coach Jim West grinned. “Grace Beezley and Ava Umfleet, running for junior high, also showed great improvement.”
Carson McNail of Ellington took top honors at the meet with a time of 17:04.68. Eli Bullock of Bunker finished second, and Tucker Combs of Alton was third.
Clearwater’s Brenden Edwards finished in 41st position with a time of 20:06.19. His teammate Ty Silveter was 43rd with a time of 20:12.80. Aiden Moran was 85th with a time of 24:18.86. Darin Garrett was 88th with a time of 25:31.80.
In the varsity girls race, Nancy Hampton finished in 37th with a time of 25:59.55. Haylee Esser has a time of 27:19.68 and finished in 42nd position.
