Former Piedmont Mayor Passes Away

Former Piedmont Mayor Jim Sutton passed away Saturday at Northeast Baptist Hospital in Arkansas. He was 86.

Sutton served as mayor from 1982 to 1986.  He retired as a Major in the Army National Guard, serving from 1952 to 1976. He was a 50-year member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge # 526. He was also a 50-year member and Past Deputy Lecturer of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jim was a graduate of Columbia College in 1975 and owned and operated Sutton Insurance Agency.
