James Doyle Sutton

James Doyle Sutton, age 86, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Northeast Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. He was born June 23, 1934 in Chicago, IL. Jim was married to Faye Roach January 1, 1954 at Lodi, MO and was a long time resident of Piedmont.
He retired as a Major in the Army National Guard, serving from 1952 to 1976. He was Mayor of Piedmont from 1982 to 1986 and was a 50 year member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge # 526. He was also a 50 year member and Past Deputy Lecturer of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jim was a graduate of Columbia College in 1975 and owned and operated Sutton Insurance Agency. He was a 25 year Certified Insurance Counselor and was a past board member of the Missouri Association of Independent Insurance Agents. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church and had recently been attending Tabernacle Baptist Church in Piedmont.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Hayes and Sheila Lovelace, his son, John R. Sutton and his grandson, Alon Sutton.
Survivors include his wife Faye Sutton, of the home, 2 children, James Sutton, Jr., of McCormick, SC, Janet Rose and her husband Gary, of Piedmont, 6 grandchildren, Jamie Sutton, T.J. Sutton, John Ryan Sutton, Houston Sutton, Tyler Rose and his wife Alesha, and Lindsey Wyatt and her husband Tommy.
Also surviving are 9 great grandchildren, Christopher, Gavin, Raylan and Jonathan Sutton, Rylee and Owen Rose, Thomas, Bentlee and Cooper Wyatt, as well as many other family and friends.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 with Rev. Jim Stewart officiating. Mary Hampton gave a eulogy and Doug and Peggy Roach sang a special song. Buddy VanNoy, Doug Roach, Lee Roach, Monty Twidwell and Wes Mullins served as Pall Bearers. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel. Memorials have been requested to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
