Nettie Imogene Allen

Nettie Imogene Allen, daughter of the late Chester Smith and Joyce Hollis, was born in Alton, Missouri, on October 23, 1933. She departed this life at her residence in Ellington, Missouri, on September 20, 2020, at the age of 86.

 

On May 3, 1952, in Piggott, Arkansas, Imogene was united in marriage to James Freddie Allen and to this union two children were born. Imogene was a member of the Ellington First Baptist Church and a former member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed making clothes, painting, quilting afghan dolls, and flower gardening. Imogene’s greatest joy was keeping up with her “Ol’ Man, Freddie.”

 

Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law, Jerry Butch Walker, one granddaughter, Summer Dawn Walker.

 

Imogene is survived by her husband, Fred Allen of Ellington, Missouri, one son, Jeffery Allen and wife Monica of Ellington, Missouri, one daughter, Patricia Jean Walker of Ellington, Missouri, three brothers, Roy Smith of Potosi, Missouri, Lynn Barton of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Jodie Smith of St. Louis, Missouri, two sisters, Nadean Balogh of Maryville, Illinois, and Freda Davis of Alton, Missouri, three grandchildren, Angela, Amber, and Jason, and 7 great-grandchildren, Gabe, Wayland, Caden, Jasper, Ethan, Sadie, and Annie. Imogene will be deeply missed by a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn her passing.

 

 

Visitation: Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Ellington First Baptist Church

Funeral to follow at 1 PM

Minister: Pastor Jim Stewart assisted by Pastor Doug Massie

Pallbearers: Craig Smith, Clark Smith, David Parizon, Cliff Morgan, Brian Barton, and Wayland Ruble

Burial: Ellington City Cemetery

In Lieu of Flowers: Donations can be made to the Ellington First Baptist Church
