James A. Morris Jr.
James “Jim” A. Morris Jr., son of Frieda L. Chitwood and the late James A. Morris Sr., was born in Fairfax, Missouri, on September 3, 1952. He departed this life at his residence in Fayette, Missouri, on November 12, 2020, at the age of 68.
On March 5, 1970, in Ellington, Missouri, Jim was united in marriage to Barbara K. Buxton and to this union four children were born. Jim was of the Baptist faith. He was a history buff on the Civil War in Southern Missouri. Jim enjoyed hunting, hot rods, and horses. He was first and always a cowboy and horseman. Jim was a graduate from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He had a diverse career of construction with heavy equipment, mining in Missouri, Arizona, New Mexico and Wyoming, farming and ranching, Vet assistant for a veterinary service and feedlots in Kansas, hunt club management, and Real Estate appraiser doing commercial and ranches appraisals in three states.
His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James A. Morris Sr., one sister, Joyce Ann Morris, and his son, James Joy Morris.
Jim is survived by his mother, Frieda Williams of Ellington, Missouri, his wife of 50 years, Barbara K. Morris of Fayette, Missouri, two sons, Jerrod Morris of Fayette, Missouri, and Jordan Morris and wife Jessica of Moberly, Missouri, one daughter, Jacquelyn Chew and husband Ian of Armstrong, Missouri, two brothers, Jon Morris and wife Suzi of Ellington, Missouri, George Morris and wife Julli of Ellington, Missouri, two sisters, Debra Scaggs and husband Ray of Ellington, Missouri, and Cheryl Barton and husband Kenneth of Ellington, Missouri, 8 grandchildren, Dakota, Bradley, Tristan, Landon, Brinley, Bailey, Abigail, and Emma, 6 great-grandchildren, Alivia, Everett, Amari, Ayden, Kaicen, and Greycen, 20 nieces and nephews, 22 great-nieces and great-nephews, and 1 great-great niece.
There will be a Graveside Service on Friday, November 20, 2020, at 2 PM at the Morris Cemetery
