Truman A. Barks

Truman A. Barks, age 95, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont. He was born February 6, 1925 in Greenville, MO, the son of Clarence Barks and Ollie (Clayton) Barks.
Truman was a World II veteran, serving in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was married to Gladys Ruble January 25, 1956 in St. Louis and worked for the US Postal Service for several years. He and Gladys returned to Greenville and he operated Greenville Motor Company for many years and then Barks Pallet and Lumber Company until his retirement. He was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge #107 in Greenville.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Clarence and Ollie Barks, his brother and sister in law, Willard and Ahmalee Barks, his son in law, Lynn Crutchfield and his grandson, Dale Crutchfield.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gladys Barks, of the home, 4 children, Ricky Barks and his wife Perla, of Canton, TX, Rae Jean Crutchfield, of Greenville, Theresa Kinnard and her husband Mike, of Greenville, Randy Barks and his wife Fawn, of Clubb.
Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Perla, Hector, Wayne, Amanda, Michael, Danny, Thomas, Cullen and Larson, along with 13 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Greenville with Rev. Kenny Burchard and Bro. Steve Francis officiating. Special recorded songs were played for the service and Bill Hovis, Carl Rickman, Norman Schaefer, Chester Shrum, Wayne Myers, Freddie Joy and Marvin Barks served as Honorary Pall Bearers. Military Honors were given at the conclusion of the service by the US Navy and the Piedmont American Legion Post #281. Interment was in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO. Memorials have been requested to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital or the Greenville Masonic Lodge #107. Services were under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel.
