Loretta Irene Dawson

Loretta Irene Dawson, daughter of the late Thomas Flynn Dorris and Gladys (Chilton) Dorris was born March 1, 1930 in Chilton, MO. and departed this life on January 26, 2021 in Bunker, MO. She had attained the age of ninety years, ten months and twenty-five days.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Loretta was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle Gene Dorris and Gerald “Jerry” Dean Dorris.

Loretta lived in Bunker for the past several years and was formerly of Ellington, MO. She was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, reading, watching the birds and traveling. She loved to tell stories of Chilton and the Dazey Ranch and the days gone by.  Her greatest joy was spending time with family and she was proud that she never got a speeding ticket.

On June 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to T. Lynn Dawson in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 2000.

Loretta is survived by two daughters, Sandra Irene Hampton and husband David of Ellington and Dora Lynne Yates and husband Jim of Bunker; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Yates, Luke Hampton and wife Snow, Laura McLean and husband Jon, Rowdy Yates and wife Hannah, Jessica Dawson and husband Troy; eight great grandchildren, Nolan, Nash, Ryker, Remi Lynne, Hailie, Nancy, Amelia and Josie and many family and friends who will mourn her passing.

 

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, MO. with the Funeral Services being held at 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Jim Chilton will be officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Van Buren. Pallbearers: Joey Dorris, David Hampton, Jon McLean, Nolan McLean, Jim Yates, Rowdy Yates. Honorary pallbearers: Paul Dorris and Tom Dorris
