Priscilla Fern Stevenson Castile

Priscilla Fern Stevenson Castile was born October 28, 1936 at Annapolis, Missouri to Marshal & Imogene Rutter Stevenson, and entered her heavenly home January 19, 2021.  For 65 years, she was married to Leo Castile, and they had two children, Neva Vance of Barnhart, Mo and Arthur (Sherry) Castile of DeSoto, Mo.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.  She is survived by her 2 children, 6 grandchildren (Donnie DeMent, Cheryl DeMent, Michelle DeMent Lee, Joseph Castile, Marshal Castile, and Nicholas Castile all of the Arnold, Mo area), 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her beloved aunt, Ruby Stevenson Ruble of Ellington, Mo and 5 sisters: Lorene Goodman, Centerville, Mo; Wilma Myers, Redford, Mo; Peggy Richards, Ellington, Mo; Joan (David) Falcone, Bolivar, Mo; and Nancy (Mike) DeMent Redford, Mo.

Fern grew up in Reynolds County, in the areas of Mayberry and Sinkin Creek; she attended Ellington High School.  She lived most of her adult life in the St. Louis/Barnhard area.  For decades, she ran a child daycare in the St. Louis and Arnold areas; she worked for 16 years in food services at Windsor High School in Arnold where she was a favorite among the students.  She was a very active member of the Arnold Church of the Nazarene for decades.

Fern’s hobbies included crocheting, walking, cooking, camping on Black River, nature watching, and flowers.  Best of all, she loved to be with family—to settle into an easy chair, sip a hot cup of coffee, and just visit.  Fern’s life of service to others is an example of a life well-lived and a legacy for her loved ones left behind to follow.  She will be sadly missed.
