Rachel Hanks

Rachel Hanks, 87, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021, at her residence. She was born in Enid, MS, March 19, 1933, to parents Harry and Mae (Noel) Rodgers. Rachel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was of the Baptist faith. She married Freddie W. Hanks on May 4, 1950, and to this union five wonderful children were born. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and her birds. She loved to collect dolls. Rachel’s first passion was being a mom. She was very family oriented. After her children were grown, her love to help and nurture others, led her to work as a Nurse Assistant in the nursing home. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-five years; son: Fredie Hanks; brothers: Raymond Rodgers, Glen Rodgers; sisters: Thelma Ledbetter, Geraldine McDaniel. Rachel is survived by her children: Dennis Hanks Sr. of Piedmont, Deborah Hanks of Dittmer, Sharon Hanks of Wentzville, Kimberly DeBold of St. Louis; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Rachel will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Visitation was held at 9:00 am, Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 10:00 am, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Jon DeBold Jr., Joshua Hanks, Vincent McWilliams, Matthew McWilliams, Zachary McWilliams, and Michael Hanks served as pallbearers.
