Shirley Mae Emerson

Shirley Mae Emerson, 86, of Silva, MO, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center. She was born in Belair, LA, April 17, 1934, to parents Luther B. and Winnie E. (Sterling) Brown.

Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She married Leroy “Roy” Emerson, in a tent at Missionary Acres, on July 4, 1952, and to this union three children were born. She was of the Baptist faith. Shirley enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and gardening. She was talented with her hands crafting, cooking, and coloring the adult coloring pages. Shirley loved her family especially spoiling her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-six years, Leroy C. Emerson; one son: Glenn Emerson; brothers: Percy, Willis, and Ray Brown; sister: Myrtle Morgan.

Shirley is survived by her children: Edwin “Eddie” Emerson and wife Trish of Jackson, Beverly Roach and husband Larry of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren: Brant Roach and wife Shawna, Derek Emerson and wife Chasity, Cody Emerson, Kelli Emerson; great-grandchild: Isabella Roach, Braxton Mabery; sisters: Dorothy Weidner of Spring, TX, Helen Enquist of Spring, TX, Ethel Weeks of Derby, KS; several nieces and nephews. Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation was held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service was at 1:00 pm. Bro. Ken Moon ministered to the family. Beverly Roach gave a heartfelt eulogy. Eddie Emerson, Derek Emerson, Cody Emerson, Larry Roach, Brant Roach and Alex Ruegg served as pallbearers. Burial followed in Greenville City Cemetery.
