Claudia L. White
Claudia L. White, age 95, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at her home in Piedmont. She was born April 2, 1926 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Claude and Ann (Lewis) Miller.
After her children were finished with their education, Claudia put herself through college and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Southeast Missouri State University. She retired as the accountant for Worley Log and Lumber in Piedmont, but she had also worked in many other positions including at the post office. She was a longtime and active member of the Piedmont Order of Eastern Star and Trinity United Methodist Church.
Claudia was an excellent seamstress and she made most of her own clothes as well as those of her children and others. She loved gardening and had a yard full of blooms. Always busy, Claudia enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, cooking and traveling. She had visited every state in the union at least twice plus Mexico and Europe. She never missed an opportunity to take a bus tour with her travel friends.
Claudia was married to Claude W. White January 12, 1946 in St. Louis and he passed away January 21, 2003. Also preceding her in death are her parents, Claude and Anna Miller, one brother, David Miller, one sister, Betty Curran and one grandson, Aaron Ellinghouse.
She will be greatly missed by her four children, Alice White-Ward, of Jefferson City, MO, Linda White-Townsend, of Van Buren, MO, Doris White-Ramsey and her partner Richard Knight, of Piedmont and Wade White and his wife Janice, of Willow Springs, MO; her six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one brother, Thomas Miller, of Memphis, TN, and her good friend and caretaker, Ellen Palmer.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 Tuesday, May 25 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Piedmont. A Memorial service will follow at 1:30 at the funeral home chapel.
Memorials have been requested to the Children’s Ministry at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont or the the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
