Dorothy Lorraine Pearson Hanger Mitchell, daughter of the late John Ellery Pearson and Myra Lorraine Shrum Pearson Clements, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 28, 1946. She departed this life at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on May 11, 2021, at the age of 74.
On January 26, 1963, in Ellington, Missouri, Dorothy was united in marriage to Gary Lee Hanger and to this union two children were born. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2001. In August of 2002, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Dorothy was united in marriage to Lawrence W. Mitchell. Dorothy attended the Lighthouse Temple Church in Ellington, Missouri. She enjoyed collecting ceramic chickens, playing computer games, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and traveling. Dorothy’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, John Pearson, her mother, Myra Pearson Clements, her step-father (the man she called her father), Otho Cleo “Bud” Clements, her first husband, Gary Hanger, two brothers, George Pearson and John Ellery Pearson Jr., and 3 uncles and 6 aunts.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Lawrence Mitchell of Ellington, Missouri, one daughter, Georgeann Stevenson and husband Jerry of Crocker, Missouri, one son , Mark Hanger and wife Brenda of Villa Ridge, Missouri, two granddaughters, Taylor and Kaitlyn, one brother, James Pearson and wife Barbara of Grove, Oklahoma, and many cousins and friends. Dorothy will be deeply missed by her family and friends who will mourn her passing.
