David Earl Haggett

David Earl Haggett, age 85, passed away Thursday, July 8 at his home near Silva. He was born July 19, 1935 in Patterson, MO, the son of Harvey Haggett and Naomi (Thornburgh) Haggett. A lifelong resident of Wayne county, David served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. He was a self employed carpenter and was a member of the Cuba Sunday School Class at the Montgomery Chapel Church.
He was married to Gloria Jean Dorton April 12, 1973 and she passed away March 13, 2006. Also preceding him in death are his parents, Harvey and Naomi Haggett.
Survivors include 2 children, David Haggett, II, of Silva, Valerie Jean Haggett-Mullins and her husband David, of Houston, TX, 1 sister, Loretta Haggett-Wedepohl, of Potosi, MO, 2 brothers, Leroy Haggett and his wife Erma, of Patterson, John Haggett and his wife Shirley, of Patterson, and 1 grandson, David Mullins, II, of Houston, TX.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, along with many other family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Greenville with Rev. Lars C. Dorton and Rev. Tillman Branson officiating. Connie Dorton provided special music and David Haggett, II, David Mullins, David Mullins, II, Brad Haggett, Carl Miller and Ron Thornburgh served as Pall Bearers. Military Honors were given at graveside by the Piedmont American Legion Post #281 and the US Army. Interment was in the Montgomery Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel.
